END OF THE ROAD
Not everyone fits the mainstream. Some are misfits, outsiders or
eccentrics that let the freaks flag fly. After working 2 years as Music Director for the Coke Studio Africa TV Show, Franck Biyong decided
to push forward his Afro futuristic experimentation with this new single
“END OF THE ROAD”, in collaboration with Kenyan DJs/producers BH and Andy Bolo.
A noisy psychedelic work with its pulsing seesaw riffs, layers of
guitars and up-to-date rhythmic sensibility, “END OF THE ROAD”
sounds like the current world state has been layering on the record.
It’s also the last preview of the forthcoming afro-electro-rock album “MOONWATCHING” (to be released just a week after this second
single), a marked departure from the growing mainstream of modern
African beats aiming at primary dancefloors.
Franck Biyong strongly believes there must be a different
understanding of what the electronic sounds and beats can
offer, and how we should manipulate these to broaden the
potential range of our expression. The new futuristic sound
explored on“MOONWATCHING”, with tension and release as
the focal points, changes the listener’s perception of what’s
possible or not — and proves that the only limitations we have
in terms of sounds and artistic expression are our own.
