MEETING THE BASIC NEEDS OF THE PEOPLE

RESEARCH IN AFRICOLOGY/ Volume 2
2015 Remastered Version

The trademark eclectic music of artist Franck Biyong is once again carefully represented in this impressionist album. These new recordings were essentially conceived as an "independent movie soundtrack" with a soft touch of progressive jazz arrangements in the background.

The overall sound here seems subtler, looser and brighter. This spacey music reaches another level of sophistication. “I felt we needed to consider things differently and hopefully we wound up with this strange sound. I also made room for the guitar"...And the bottom-heavy music remains accessible...

As more and more musicians emerge here and there with Africa in mind, Biyong will be considered as one of the true pioneers brilliantly pushing the Afro-Jazz fusion movement forward.
